Dear my sweet boy, this is all about you from 0 to 3 months old. (posted almost a month late, but everything written was up to date as of 3 months!)

I have to be honest, I was nervous about having a second child. Our lives were beautifully full and I didn’t know where or how you were going to fit in. Turns out I had nothing to worry about! You settled in seamlessly and lit up our lives.
I needed your energy and our family needed it too. Having you was the best (second) decision we ever made. You, my dear, are the sweetest little guy. Your energy is gentle and calm. You smile and wiggle when I come and say hello to you. You coo and talk back in response to my greetings. Yesterday I was able to get you belly laughing for the first time.
You are a very easy baby, I don’t know how I got so lucky! You like it when we keep our days quiet because it’s on those days you sleep the most. When we are out and about trying to keep up with Sage, your eyes and ears absorb new sights and sounds. Your body tenses and your eyes open wide. The excitement is stimulating making you overtired and harder to settle down. But “harder to settle down” really isn’t hard. It just means you may need to be nursed and held before bed instead of just falling asleep on your own.
Since you were born you make the cutest noise when you want to eat. It’s like a little “eh, eh, eh” and it’s your polite way of saying, “food please.” When I try to get a few more things finished or tend to your sister the “eh, eh, eh” turns into longer “ahhhhhhhh, ahhhhhh” but you rarely cry. You just let me know with a little more strength to wrap up what I am doing and come to you. You aren’t much of a crier. The only time you have been upset for an extended period of time was on our road trip when we would drive over mountain passes. I think the elevation change was bothering your ears. But we got through it. So far you aren’t interested in the pacifier but have been enjoying sucking on your fist. You don’t like dirty diapers and let me know with a little fussing that it’s time to be changed. Even the littlest bit of poop bothers you.
You are sleeping well. You go to sleep between 7-7:30 wake up at 11pm or skip that and go straight to 2am. Then again about 5am. I pull you off your bed and into bed with me when you wake up and we snuggle the rest of the night. I love how good you smell and I like having you close. You are a noisy sleeper though so sometimes I have to put you back in your bed so I can get some sleep. Right now your bed is an old thermarest in the under-the bed-drawer that we pull open when its time for you to sleep. I put a baby mattress cover on the thermarest and it works great. We are living in a tiny condo so there was no room for our co-sleeper or your crib.
You love the bath. Before I put you to sleep I fill up the tub so the water comes above your ears, lay you down, and you start doing jumping jacks at super speed. You splash and make the happiest noises. After bath I wrap you up, put on your diaper, swaddle you, nurse you, and lay you down while you are awake but groggy. Then I leave and you go to sleep. It’s THAT easy! I lay you down awake most of the time and you have no problem closing your eyes and drifting off on your own. Lucky me!
Just for the record, in case we decide to have another baby, I haven’t had any dairy since you were born and you have had very little gas issues. I also haven’t had any alcohol and little to no sugar. I don’t know if it’s the calm birth, my much calmer pregnancy, my calmer second time energy, the food choices… but whatever it is, it’s working and you are a rock star.
I have noticed your calm energy affect other people too. Friends and family will hold you and they settle in to the experience. You are my peaceful gift. I love you so much. Don’t grow up too fast because I am really enjoying this baby phase.
Love, Mama.
Here are a TON of pictures from your first 3 months. I tried to get rid of as many as I could and that still left me with a lot. I guess the saying that the second child gets no pictures taken of them doesn’t apply to you!

This was your first ride in the car. We went to see Kubischta’s in Bonita to swim and hang out in grandma Mary’s back yard.

Your first check up at the Dr. after the home birth.
